DC Generals: 42, Tampa Bay Sentinels: 13
The DC Generals opended the season with their first 'official' away victory edging out the Tampa Bay Sentinels, 42-13. The DC Generals showed a little rust as they allowed the determined Sentinels to gain an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter with an interception returned for a touchdown. But that was all the DC Generals would allow until later in the game as they then ran off several unanswered scores. Veteran Running Back Patrick 'Pac-man' Mann recorded a believed team record three rushing touchdowns. Newcomer Larry Shaw added two rushing touchdowns and Adam 'Pop' Popielarcheck added another one. In addition of this being the DC Generals first away game victory, it is also the first time the team did not have to punt, and the first time a player recorded three touchdowns. The game ball was given out to player RIch Reynolds who suffered a possible season-ending leg injury during a pre-season practice.
